Dr. Richards has a strong manual therapy background. This helps her to see and treat the body's movements at a joint and myofascial level. In order to retain gains made through manual therapy she prescribes appropriate exercises to reinforce optimal movement patterns. Her main exercise prescriptions come from her training in Yoga, Pilates, and from the Postural Restoration Institute. With a history in athletic training and personal training, she also has a keen eye for biomechanical analysis, which aid in breaking down the movement patterns and associated joint and soft tissue dysfunction that impede optimal movements. She is also trained in dry needling, which Dr. Richards uses as one of her most effective modalities in alleviating pain and preventing altered body mechanics that impose on the healing process. Jackie also specializes in treatment of the pelvic floor and prenatal/postpartum care.
Testimonial
"After trying Orthopedic medicine, PT and massage, I finally contacted Dr. Richards about my neck pain, which was slowly getting worse, after about 5 years. The short story is I am now pain free about 3 months later. The longer story is that Jackie LISTENED to my history as no other practitioner had, and spent every minute of every session manipulating me, working on exercises with me, or dry needling me. As a result of such intense attention, I needed less frequent sessions, and was able to learn what worked for me to give me relief. I only saw Jackie about 4 times, but by using her techniques, my pain has slowly diminished, and I have much greater mobility in my neck. I cannot say enough about Jackie, as a professional practioner, or as an all around loving person who genuinely cares about her patients. AND, she is a fantastic yoga instructor as well! I feel I have not only gained another medical resource, but also a friend. Thank you, Jackie!"

"First, a confession. I always thought yoga was woo woo. Certainly, it didn't stack up to the workout I could get in the gym. But since Jackie introduced me to yoga, I have come to embrace "the practice." Is it a workout? Oh yes. Is it a journey? That too. I can see, in just a few months, that yoga has made my body stronger. It's also a great physical release. And, for me, the movement and stretching associated with yoga have kept my lower back pain in check. Jackie brings something unique to the mix: a doctorate in physical therapy. Her knowledge and passion about anatomy and physiology inform her work as a yoga instructor and she uses that dual skill set to catch and correct physical imbalances early. I'm all in."
